RESIDENT HOODIE – BLACK

Sometime in the 1990s, a brand consultant somewhere decided that clothing needed an explanation. The hoodie, apparently, was no longer just a garment. It was a statement. A lifestyle choice. A deeply personal expression of your authentic relationship with the outdoors, probably involving a mountain and some low-volume synth music. This consultant had almost certainly never run long distances in the dark, wore primarily chinos, and had strong opinions about kerning.

We thought about hiring someone like that. We really did. Then we made a black hoodie with a white logo on the chest and a bigger white logo on the back instead. It exists because after enough hours on a trail, you need something to put on that isn't your race vest. Something that tells people where you've been without you having to explain it. The logo does the talking. You just stand there.

THE HONEST DESCRIPTION

GOT UP. STILL DARK. ATE SOMETHING BEIGE. LEFT. THE PEOPLE GOING THE OTHER WAY LOOKED CONFUSED. THE PEOPLE GOING YOUR WAY SAID NOTHING. CORRECT. CAME BACK EVENTUALLY. LEGS HAPPENED. PUT THIS ON. THAT'S MORE OR LESS THE WHOLE STORY.
