This year's The North Face Grossglockner Ultra-Trail in July is where the summer gets serious: an anchor event around Austria's highest mountain, where the scale of the thing tends to rearrange your priorities somewhere around kilometre 40. Then South Tyrol, immediately after, for the Schnalstal Alpine Trail: a soul race above 3,000 metres where the terrain is technical, the atmosphere is grounded, and the mountain genuinely doesn't care about your training log. Then October, when the season refuses to end quietly: the October Trail Festival is five distances, a long weekend in Bavaria, and somewhere between an endurance race and a very justified celebration of surviving the year.

Between the races, the community runs: no timing, no ranking, no obligation to pretend you're fine on the uphill.

Wherever you are in your running life, there is an event here with your name on it. Possibly literally.
