Not the longest distance at OTF. Just the one that feels like it has something to prove.

It starts generously. Runnable trails out of Oberaudorf, the kind that give you a false sense of the situation. Then the Wildbarren at 1,448 metres, which is considerably less generous and not particularly interested in your opinion about it.

From there: a stretch designed to drain you. The Sudelfeld is beautiful: wide, open, the Wilder Kaiser watching from a distance with no interest in your split times. Then the downhills arrive. Steep, technical. Good if you know what to do with your feet. Less good if you don't.

The forest trails open up shortly after and you can actually move again, which is either a relief or a trap, depending on how you look at it. Grandlkaser, Rechenau, one last climb. Then Oberaudorf reappears and you go.

56.5 kilometres. 3,228 metres of vert. One of the more honest days you can have in the Bavarian mountains. We mean that as a compliment.

SUPPORT & CHEERING ZONES

Here's the thing about trailrunners: they look invincible right up until the moment they absolutely aren't. And that's precisely when they need you.

The OTF Cheering Zone is where the race gets loud. No bib, no training, no problem. Bring a voice, possibly a cowbell, and the kind of energy that makes a completely wrecked person find a gear they didn't know they had.

They've been out there for hours. You've been here, in the Bavarian sun, doing your very important job.

Make some noise. It works. We've checked.
