SAT TRAILRUNNING CAMP BY KAILAS FUGA

Schnalstal, South Tyrol
June 17 – 21, 2026

MAGIC VALLEY. SOUTH TYROL. RUN IT PROPERLY.

There are places in the Alps where the mountains feel like they were designed by someone who genuinely cared. The Schnalstal is one of them: tucked into the Italian side of the main ridge, with trails that climb above 3,000 metres and a valley floor that makes urgency feel slightly embarrassing.

We're running it with Dani Jung: professional trailrunner, someone who knows this valley the way most people know their home routes, and a guide worth following uphill. Small group. A few days. Trailrunning that earns the scenery.

CAMP SERVICES

Five days. Four runs. One valley that will ruin all future valleys for you.

  • Guided trailrunning with Dani Jung, Anna Hofer, and certified guides who know the Schnalstal the way you know your local loop... except their loop goes from 1,500 to 3,000 metres.
  • Four tours across the valley's best terrain: a mix of technical and flowing, with stops at alpine huts built into the route.
  • Technique work and running analysis on each tour: uphill efficiency, downhill confidence, the kind of coaching that shows up in the legs on day four.
  • Yoga and recovery sessions between running days. Not decoration. The reason the legs keep working.
  • A goodie bag. Packed by people who run.

HOTEL & FOOD

Four nights at Berghotel Tyrol, 1,508 metres.

The basecamp is run by Didi and his team, who have the rare quality of making you feel genuinely welcome rather than efficiently processed. The kitchen operates in the same spirit: Alpine, regional, occasionally Mediterranean, and good enough that the post-run soup becomes a highlight you didn't see coming.

Half-board is included with your accommodation booking:

Breakfast buffet, Thursday to Sunday. 3-course dinner with choice of menu, Wednesday to Saturday. A bowl of soup after every run. Underrated. Deeply necessary.

The hotel's wellness area is available between sessions: indoor pool, Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, and a fitness room for anyone who has their own ideas about recovery.

Booking

Accommodation is not included in the camp fee. Book directly with Berghotel Tyrol using the code SALTYDANI:

Double room (per person), 4 nights incl. half-board: €380.
Single room or double for sole occupancy, 4 nights incl. half-board: €480

An additional tourist tax of €3.50 per person per night applies. The hotel's own cancellation conditions apply. Check directly when booking. Arriving a day early or staying longer? The discounted camp rates apply to extended stays too.

Bringing someone who doesn't run? Also fine. Schnalstal is worth exploring at any pace, and Berghotel Tyrol is worth sitting in.

LOGISTICS

Arrival & Departure
Check-in at Berghotel Tyrol from 14:00 on Wednesday. The camp begins at 16:30 and runs until Sunday at 11:00.

Group Size
Minimum 8, maximum 20 participants.

The Trailrunning
Daily tours from Thursday to Saturday in two groups:

Beginners: 10–20 km with 1,000–1,500 m of elevation per day.

Advanced: 20–25 km with 1,500–2,000 m of elevation per day.

Distances may be adjusted on the ground depending on conditions and the group. This is a feature, not a footnote. Weather can also change things: Schnalstal is beautiful, and the mountains are in charge.

A Note on Fitness
Be honest with yourself. The camp works for both newer and more experienced trailrunners, but everyone should be confident they can handle the daily programme and have the fitness to back it up. Sure-footedness on technical trail terrain is a prerequisite. If you're unsure whether this is the right level for you, get in touch via email (hello@saltytrailrunning.com) before signing up.

What to Bring
Trailrunning shoes, clothing for warm, cold, and wet conditions, trail pack with a minimum 1L water capacity, sun protection, sunglasses, food for the trails (bars, gels, whatever works for you), poles if you use them, sports watch, phone with a full battery (kept on you at all times on the trail), and a small first aid kit including an emergency blanket.

Liability
We take the safety and wellbeing of every participant seriously. That said: participation is at your own risk. Each participant is responsible for their own physical condition and takes part under their own liability. Before arrival, you'll receive a waiver to sign confirming this. Our general terms and conditions also apply – linked below.
