The cap exists, in large part, because of hair. Specifically, what happens to hair at 5am when you have a race start in forty-five minutes and zero interest in addressing it. This is not a vanity observation; it is an operational one. Hair, left unmanaged at altitude, in wind, after several hours of effort, becomes a structural problem. The cap solves this quietly and without drama, which is more than can be said for most solutions to most problems.

It also keeps the sun out of your eyes, which matters considerably more at 2,400 metres than anywhere else. We made ours black. Big SALTY logo on the front. Because when you put a logo on a cap, you commit to it. Small logo on the back, because details matter. The kind of cap that goes on before a run and somehow never really comes off again.
